Today I’m really excited to share a new video that takes you behind the scenes of how we plan the farm. It’s a wonderful little window into our unconventional process and might be my favorite video to date! Even though I’ve been creating a garden or farm plan for nearly 20 years now, I always find this activity to be quite daunting. It’s a delicate balance between dreaming big and also trying to be as realistic as possible about our many limitations. Jill and I approach planning the farm in a ve

I love looking back at beautiful moments from past growing seasons as I’m planning out the crops for this year. Here’s a video of Zinnia Precious Metals, which so many of you ordered and we will of course be growing in 2024. This is what will be in store for us all this summer! We still have seed in the shop (https://shop.floretflowers.com/collections/floret-originals-zinnias/products/zinnia-precious-metals-mix) if you want to add some to your garden. This weekend I planted the dahlia seedling/breeding patch. It’s always surprising just how many babies you can squeeze into a space when you’re growing them from seed. Each one of my rows fit about 850 plants! If you have a copy of Discovering Dahlias there are step-by-step instructions starting on page 84. | Floret Flower Farm

Today, I’m thrilled to share the final episode (for now) of The Floret Farm Journal where we take a look back at the 2025 growing season. It was a year of big projects, hard work, and growth, and there were so many important lessons that we learned along the way. The Floret Farm Journal was by far the most special thing we created this past season. Committing to telling the story of the farm every single month, no matter what, stretched us in the best possible way. In the end, we created somethi

The newest episode of The Floret Farm Journal is now available to watch! You can find a link to the full video below. In this month’s episode, the team works to bring in the seed harvest. Hundreds of varieties of zinnias, dahlias, and celosia are lovingly picked by hand, taken into the greenhouses, and laid out to dry. As the crew focuses on harvesting, Chris and I have been hard at work gathering the last notes and photos for a book on flower seed saving—a project 4 years in the making and our

Finally! I can give you a tour of all 195 varieties of breeding zinnias we have in the works here on the farm. A huge thank you to Dawn Creek for some seriously magical seed to start with, Peace Seedlings for so many fun and freaky plants to add into the genetic pool we’re swimming in and of course everyone on the farm who has spent years tending to these magical creatures. | Floret Flower Farm

Chris and I take nightly “farm walks” which is basically our way of putting the farm to bed and winding down from the day. When we started filming for season 2, Chris began to capture this ritual on camera and it ended up playing a huge part in the storytelling of the show. Video by Blue Chalk Media | Floret Flower Farm

I’m excited to share that the latest episode of The Floret Farm Journal (https://www.floretflowers.com/the-floret-farm-journal-october-2025/) is now available to watch! This month on the farm is always a scramble—the final surge to collect every ripe seedpod, capture as much beauty and information as we can possibly manage, and scrape together the very last bits of magic before frost arrives. But just as the garden is fading, hundreds of crabapple trees are coming into their prime all over the f

I have something really fun to share today! Farmer Bailey has started a wonderful new business that gives home gardeners access to smaller quantities of the same amazing plugs and potted plants that they offer their flower farming and nursery customers. Until now home gardeners haven’t had access to these coveted varieties that professional growers have. I got a bunch of samples and I thought you’d like to see what they look like. You can check it out via the link below and don't worry, they're
