Actually, I've done this experiment before (although with an iPod touch). Of course, it's a fun experiment so it seems worthwhile to repeat the measurement. Of course most smart phones have some type ...

A new Scientific Reports study using accelerometer data from two Belgian national surveys finds weekend sedentary time rising among children aged 10 to 13 while overall adherence to physical activity ...

We take it for granted now, but the fact that you can flip your phone from portrait to landscape mode depends on accelerometers. As everyone knows, though, the damn things often get it wrong, leaving ...

We barely notice them, but they're one of the most important features buried in the everyday smartphone experience. Accelerometers are devices that can measure acceleration (the rate of change in ...

A simple timed walking test may be feasible among patients with type 2 diabetes attending a primary care clinic, with mean ...

Focused on the accelerometer-determined physical activity and sedentary time metrics in 9–11-year-old children, we sought to determine the following: (i) number of days that are necessary to achieve ...

The demand for microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) resilient to harsh environments is growing. Silicon-based MEMS struggle under extreme conditions, limited by their performance at elevated ...

Objective Although 30 min/day of moderate-intensity physical activity is suggested for preventing type 2 diabetes (T2D), the current recommendations exclusively rely on self-reports and rarely ...

In what could be a breakthrough for body sensor and navigation technologies, researchers at KTH have developed the smallest accelerometer yet reported, using the highly conductive nanomaterial, ...

The accelerometer is a hardware sensor used to detect a shake motion. William Francis shares the accelerometer code that he uses in his Android apps. Hardware, software, and the user are melding in ...
